Urban Youth

This project was inspired by urban youth culture, I wanted to collect a series of photos that demonstrated this. The graffiti picture was shot in a derelict factory. The use of natural lighting and reflections in the water actually enhance the look and although a gritty shot it actually looks quite beautiful.

I chose the clothes and thought about the lighting on the day and how it could be used to best effect on the photo’s. I relied on natural lighting most of the time to enhance the look and feel of the pictures in order to keep the photos looking more realistic. The female model was styled particularly to reflect current trends, i.e., monochrome and cobalt blue. The styling gives a sharp contrast against the hard urban background providing a softer edge.

For the photo above the models were stood with the sun behind them, as a result the fronts of their bodies were completely in shade so I enhanced the natural shadows and highlights of the image in order to create the illusion of a silhouette. Although the garments are not visible in this photo it still depicts a very urban vibe, with an almost gang youth quality to it.

British Theme/ Heritage

I wanted these photos to reflect a London vibe and have a typical British look about them. So I dressed the models in a way that reflected classic British style, with a young feel to it. Ie., Smart white shirts, bowler hat, Dr Martens, brogues etc. In the majority of these photos I wanted to pick out the redness of the images in order to reflect iconic London objects such as red telephone boxes and double decker buses. I also wanted the photos to have this style so they would be able to be used for a London campaign such as a London based clothing brand.
Telephone box photo  - I drained the vibrance of the image so that I was able to pick out the strong colours such as the reds and the blues.
With Scarlett's photos I wanted them to look quite striking and edgy so I purposely edited them in a way which highlights the redness in the images; lipstick, dress.

These four tie in well, even tho they are from different photo shoots. They all have strong qualities about them, striking and have good use of colour.

Yaelle Scarf Campaign

The positioning and styling in this photo are strong, the lighting is flattering to both the model and the garment. I chose to edit it in this format leaving the scarf in colour as it highlights the scarf even more so and would stand out if seen from a distance. The colour of the scarf is vibrant and in this picture I feel highlights the target market; young, classy, fun women.
The black and white I feel gives a classy look and the colour in just the scarf makes for a more eye catching image, which would then help to sell the garment. Due to editing and positioning the scarf becomes to focal point of the overall image, with the model becoming secondary.

In the Woods

This photo is from a project which was mainly inspired by Gothic, witch craft/ voodoo. I wanted to create photos which explored this theme however still have a fashion edge. I feel that this photo looks spiritual due to the scenery I shot in; the woodlands during snow fall.
